Mother’s Day is on May 10th this year. Every second Sunday in May, people in America celebrate their moms by gifting flowers, cards, and other gifts to show appreciation. This holiday was created by a woman named Anna Jarvis back in 1908 after the passing of her mother to celebrate and honor mothers. In 1914, Mother’s Day became an official U.S. holiday. However, moms have been celebrated all over the world for hundreds of years. Each fall in Ethiopia, families gather to sing songs and eat a feast during their multi-day celebration of motherhood. Here in the U.S. there are more phone calls made on Mother’s Day than any other. So give your mom a call this Mother’s Day to show appreciation for all that mom’s do. Moms make leave such an incredible mark on our lives. What are some ways your mom has shaped your life?
